High-temperature resin is made to keep its shape at temperatures that would soften most plastics. Depending on the product, some grades can handle well over 150 °C (300 °F). Like all resin prints, parts are washed and cured under UV light after printing. Uncured resin is a skin irritant, but properly cured finished parts are safe to handle.
What High-temperature resin is good at
- Heat resistant: One of the most heat-resistant options in 3D printing.
- Detailed and smooth: Keeps resin's fine detail.
Where it falls short
- Brittle: Not good for impact or stress.
- Costs more: A specialty resin.
Is High-temperature resin right for my project?
It's usually a good fit if your item:
- must hold its shape near heat
- needs fine detail
- won't take impacts
For heat plus toughness, ask about polycarbonate or PEEK / PEI.
Common questions
How hot can it get? It depends on the product and how it's cured. Ask the shop for the rating of the resin they use.
