If you sell to shops that resell your products, give those products a wholesale price. Works shows whether selling wholesale still pays.
Your usual discount
In Settings › Edit settings, the Usual wholesale discount is the percentage off your retail price you usually give retailers. When you set a product's wholesale price, Works reminds you of it, with a button to use it.
A product's wholesale price
On the product's Selling card, click the Sold wholesale row (or Edit) and tick Yes: you also sell it to retailers. Then, in the Wholesale price row, enter either:
- the price, or
- a percentage off retail in the box next to it (or click Use for your usual discount).
Works then shows three profits side by side:
- yours at retail (selling it yourself),
- yours at wholesale (selling it to the retailer), and
- the retailer's (their price, which is your retail price, less what they paid you).
If your wholesale profit is negative, it shows in red: the discount is too deep for what the product costs.
Taxes on wholesale
Wholesale prices use the taxes ticked Wholesale in Settings › Taxes. Sales for resale are usually tax-exempt, so none are ticked to start. See Taxes.
